The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us across the globe in one way or another, and in a very short period of time. The Hero Gaming Foundation was set up with the aim of making Hero Gaming more socially accountable, and during these challenging and unprecedented times we want to ensure we live by our ethos and take care of our society and those who are caring for us and our loved ones while we work from home.
Following our donation to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, who are leading and coordinating the global effort and supporting countries to prevent, detect and respond to the pandemic; we felt it is now essential to show solidarity and provide a lifeline to NGOs which are working tirelessly on the frontlines and supporting our local communities.
In Malta, we have supported the Malta Red Cross who have set up a clinic at the Hal Far Open Centre which has been placed under quarantine due to spike in positive cases and supporting our healthcare system in many other ways, we donated to the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation Malta who together with Bolt Food are delivering food packages directly to the families and people struggling during this period and we also supported the MSPCA (Malta Society for the Protection and Care of Animals) and CLAWS (Cat Lovers Adoptions, Welfare & Support) who are struggling to make ends meet during these though times due to the closure of their charity shops and a decline in donations.
In Malmö, we have partnered up with Pieplows Restauranger to deliver lunches to medical professionals who are working around the clock to keep us safe and supported Skane Stadsmission, an NGO who help socially vulnerable people, who are now having to up their efforts in the wake of people losing their jobs.
The Hero Gaming Foundation fully understands that this is a time when it is essential to reach out and make a small difference and show solidarity to our local heroes who are working determinately to make the situation better for our societies and help us return to normality.
