“Our people are our greatest asset.” This phrase in itself has become a bit of a cliché, yet at Hero Gaming, we truly believe that our success is directly linked to the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our employees. We have invested time, attention, and resources to inspire our teams, and built a culture that truly values people. This is genuinely not just an employer branding slogan, but an integral part of our people strategy.

Through a strong talent acquisition process, we aim to offer a great candidate experience and an effective recruitment process, to ensure we bring in the best talent. Using competency-based interviews, we focus on attitude and culture fit, and strongly believe that we can train for certain skills. We base our shortlist and selection on whether the candidate performs at a high standard, can bring innovation, and has the potential to grow within our business.

Are you interested in learning more about our culture and life at Hero Gaming? Here are a few tips that will help you prepare for your interview with us.

One Golden Rule

We are strong believers in transparency, honesty, and trust. We have an open culture and encourage our heroes to share their thoughts, bring their ideas to the table, and make wise decisions – and we empower them to be the best versions of themselves.

We have one golden rule that is to use good judgement in all situations. Are you willing to take calculated risks, and take ownership of projects? Do you share this mindset? If this is the case, that’s brilliant. Bring this up during your interview! Of course, for some, this mindset might come naturally, while others will need some time to learn and adjust to this style of work. To embrace this challenger mindset, it takes courage, curiosity, passion, and trust; yet ultimately, it is very empowering and rewarding. A challenger leadership framework helps us learn from each other.  Nevertheless, always keep in mind that when in doubt, ask questions! Don’t stay silent and unsure, there’s no such thing as a stupid question and assumption is the mother of all f*** ups!

Two Beautiful Offices, Remote Employees, and a Diverse Multicultural Team

We pride ourselves on being an international company with over 30 different nationalities from different backgrounds. We have an office in Saint Julian’s, Malta, one in Malmo, Sweden, and several heroes are also based around the globe. In a post-pandemic world, we will experiment with mixing the best of the old and the new ways of working, in a hybrid model. Most of our daily conversations happen over Slack or Zoom, but at every chance we get, we create the opportunity to get together in person because nothing beats face-to-face interactions.

So, here’s a reflection we recommend that you make to assess whether we could be a fit for you:

  • Are you looking to work in an international environment?
  • Are you an ambassador of diversity and inclusion?
  • Do you have a flexible approach to work? Is collaboration your strength?
  • Can you build relationships virtually?

Three Values

Our people and our customers are at the core of our business. We trust, respect, care for, and support one another. Love, dare, win are our values, and this is how we do things at Hero. We are innovative, bold, opportunistic, and we take risks. Together, we work hard to achieve our goals and exceed expectations. We dream big, think big, and make big things happen!

Can you relate? Think about your own values and beliefs as well as your work style and perspectives. Ask yourself, are these the traits that excite me and that I can live by every day?

Be Your Authentic Self

Culture fit is of utmost importance to us, so get ready to tell us more about yourself. We are genuinely interested in getting to know more about your personality. Selecting the right talent at recruitment stage is crucial not only for Hero Gaming but also for our heroes. We want to make sure that you have a fantastic experience and truly enjoy your journey with us.

  • Read the job description well. We want you to love what you do. Tell us about your experience and your strengths. Think about what your gaps are and tell us how you’re planning to bridge them.
  • Do you pursue everything with energy, drive, and passion? Then show us and tell us about it, be ready to share examples during our meeting of specific situations that you have been in to demonstrate certain skills and experiences.
  • Are you hungry to learn? Expect to learn on-the-job and work with highly talented individuals who will help you push yourself out of your comfort zone.
  • We operate in a dynamic and fast-paced industry, and we are very agile and adaptable. Are you flexible and capable of adapting to change?
